The Happy Valley Jamboree, held annually each Labor Day weekend, will take place August 29-31 at the Jones Family Farm on Highway 268 along the beautiful Yadkin River. The free heritage and music festival will begin Friday at 7 PM with old time music, a joke contest, cake walks, and the saga of Tom Dooley told by Rob McHale at the graveside of Laura Foster. The fun will continue Saturday with Junior Appalachian Musicians showcases, children’s activities, a dance workshop led by Rodney Sutton, slow jams, ballad swaps, and an open category competition. Sunday events include an old-time community gospel sing at 10 AM and afternoon concerts with William Ritter and Sarah Ogletree, Strictly Clean and Decent, and Zoe and Cloyd. Primitive camping is available, and food trucks will be onsite all weekend. Bring a chair and your instruments and come join the fun.
