Head to Banner Elk Oct. 17-18 for the famous Woolly Worm Festival.
The festival is known worldwide for its quirky mission of conducting races among woolly bear caterpillars. Races are both days, with Saturday’s big winner getting $1,000 and the honor of forecasting the upcoming winter weather in NC’s High Country.
The festivities also include live music, family activities, craft vendors and more.
