Authorization for Use of Content

I, the Submitter, grant the North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives (NCEC) family of corporations – including North Carolina Association of Electric Cooperatives, Inc., publisher of Carolina Country; North Carolina Electric Membership Corporation; the Tarheel Electric Membership Association, Inc.; and Human Connections Foundation, Inc. –royalty-free first rights to reproduce, publish, or otherwise use the submitted text, photograph, image, or video (Submission) in any NCEC publications, including traditional, online, and social media publications, and for promotional and outreach efforts, and I represent that:

• I am at least 18 years old (Note: If you are not at least 18 years old, a parent or legal guardian must complete the Submission on your behalf.).
• The content submitted here is my original work unless cited as such in reference to quotes, statements, or facts from named sources.
• The Submission does not include images or text generated with AI, including chatbots such as ChatGPT and Bard. (Note: If AI was used as a research tool in drafting the Submission, please explain how in a footnote within the document.)
• The Submission does not infringe upon any other person’s copyright or other rights; publication of the Submission will not violate any other rights of any party including, but not limited to, rights of privacy, rights of publicity, and rights relative to defamation; and I have obtained all waivers of rights or releases that may be necessary.
• I grant NCEC the right to edit, condense or alter the Submission as necessary for publication.
• I agree to indemnify and hold harmless NCEC from any claim arising out of any breach or alleged breach of the foregoing representations.
