This summer, Kerick Hairston Jr., a seventh grader at Rockingham Middle, participated in the Carolina Basketball School, led by head coach Hubert Davis at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

Sponsored by Pee Dee Electric’s Touchstone Energy Sports Camp scholarships, Kerick joined other campers as they stayed overnight in dorms and experienced life as a college student. At camp, coaches and student-athletes worked directly with campers to develop basketball fundamentals and practice skills such as teamwork to help them excel on and off the court.
