Explaining Your Bill

Previously, your bill would list an Electric Charge made up of an Energy Charge and a Grid Access Charge. We now break these out separately. The Energy Charge pays for the amount of energy you used at your home or business. The Grid Access Charge is explained below. When you see the change, remember it’s not a new charge or an increase. Rather, we have unbundled the charges. If you have a question about this, please call us, and we will be happy to help you.

What is included in a Grid Access Charge?

REMC’s Grid Access Charge covers a portion of all costs associated with giving you access to the grid. It keeps electric distribution equipment up to date and operating properly. It also covers trained staff who respond to issues and keep electricity flowing safely to your home or business. The charge includes all of these elements:
