Halifax EMC exists to serve its members, and your trust in the board of directors is central to that mission. On behalf of the board, thank you for the confidence you have in us to oversee your cooperative responsibly and thoughtfully. We approach this role with a strong commitment to good governance, financial stewardship, and policies that support reliable, affordable electric service for today and for the future.
2025 was a very successful year for the cooperative in making significant investments to improve service, strengthen financial integrity and enhance overall member experience.
In early 2025, Halifax EMC
successfully implemented a new billing and member services platform. We appreciate the members efforts to register and set up certain new account information as we rolled out the new platform. While change can be challenging, this upgrade has delivered meaningful benefits. Members can now view detailed electric usage information, start or transfer service online, receive important account alerts, and manage their accounts conveniently through their online account or in the new Halifax EMC mobile app. I encourage you to visit halifaxemc.com to explore helpful tutorials and learn more about these new tools and how they can help you manage your energy usage through awareness and understanding. And, be on the lookout for a
welcome email introducing our newest energy tool, Energy Insights.
To further improve service, the cooperative also implemented a new advanced phone system designed to better serve our membership. The system is more interactive and user friendly, allowing members to easily navigate options, request a callback, or leave a message when member services representatives are assisting other callers. Over the next year members can expect to see further improvements in communication options with your cooperative.
In addition to financial accuracy, I assure you our staff at Halifax EMC is always striving to deliver service to you in the most cost-effective way possible.
Financial stewardship remains a top priority for your Board of Directors. An independent audit of the cooperative’s financial statements was conducted by Adams, Jenkins & Cheatham, resulting in a clean audit opinion. This outcome reflects the cooperative’s continued commitment to sound financial management and transparency. In addition to financial accuracy, I assure you our staff at Halifax EMC is always striving to deliver service to you in the most cost-effective way possible.
I am also pleased to report last year’s return of $258,000 in capital credits to members who received electric service during 2004.
Capital credits are a hallmark of the cooperative difference. This capital credits retirement reflects our commitment to the cooperative principle of Members’ Economic Participation, ensuring that the people who help generate margins, our members, share in the benefits.
Your cooperative also works for you beyond the poles and wires you see in our area. In 2025, we advocated for practical, reliable and affordable energy policy, earning meaningful wins at both the state and federal level. We worked alongside our statewide and national cooperative partners
to ensure the cooperative voice were heard on issues that directly affect reliability, rates and local control. These policy victories help protect our ability to plan responsibly, invest in the grid and keep our service affordable for the members.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, thank you for your continued trust and engagement in your cooperative. We are proud of the progress made in 2025 and remain focused on serving you with reliability, accountability, and care.
