Pee Dee Electric Awards Care to Share Grants

Hamlet Rescue and EMS

So far in 2024, members have contributed over $37,000 to deserving non-profit organizations, and grants were awarded in Richmond, Scotland and Stanly counties. As a member-owned electric cooperative, Pee Dee Electric believes in giving back and improving the quality of life in our communities.

Funding for the Care to Share program comes from members of the electric cooperative generously rounding up their electric bills to the next dollar amount. Members have contributed more than $1.8 million since 2005, proving that Pee Dee Electric members have big hearts for not just their communities but also for service.

“Through the power of giving, Pee Dee Electric’s Care to Share Program brings positive impacts to the communities we serve,” Taylor Demby, manager of Marketing and Communications, stated. “We are very proud to offer grants to support local non-profits and emergency agencies.”

The maximum award for first responder agencies is $7,500, and these organizations can apply for funding every two years. For all other local non-profit organizations, the maximum grant is $5,000, and they can apply for funding every three years.

“I am extremely proud of the work these non-profit organizations are doing in our communities and across our service territory,” Demby said. “We are glad we can support them and contribute to their success through our Care to Share program.”
