Welcome to the Board of Directors, Kim Skipper Anderson

Kim Anderson

Kim Skipper Anderson

Representing District 2, Kim Skipper Anderson’s family history includes those who helped lay the foundation for the cooperative, and later helped it grow. An award-winning real estate broker at Art Skipper Realty, Kim is consistently the number one broker on Oak Island, and consistently one of the top producers in the county.

Her community service includes leadership roles for the Brunswick County Association of Realtors, US Open King Mackerel Tournament, Oak Island Library Boosters, Southport-Oak Island Chamber of Commerce, and Ocean View United Methodist Church.

“My grandparents, Charlie Morgan Anderson and Alma Ward Anderson, moved to Town Creek from Columbus County in the early ‘40s, when the co-op had just been founded. Charlie was an electrician and help set some of the first poles. Alma fed the volunteer crews who were working on those lines, and her cooking was so good she inspired more to join the effort. Later, my mother Sally Skipper worked at the Southport office, retiring as Office Supervisor.

The co-op has always been important to my family. I’ve been impressed with the way the business is run, and how the employees and members are treated. As a real estate broker, I deal with clients and BEMC practically every day and understand its significance to the community. I’m looking forward to contributing my experience and working hard to serve the membership.”

The BEMC Board of Directors

The membership elects the Board of Directors to represent them in the operation of the cooperative. All directors must receive electric service from BEMC, which keeps control in local hands, not far-away shareholders or investors.
