Employee Spotlight: Billy Katalinic

With Lineworker Appreciation Day on April 14, we’re taking a moment to recognize Billy’s unwavering dedication, grit, and heart. He works tirelessly—often in the toughest conditions—because he knows the lights, the warmth, and the safety of our community depend on it.

How long have you been in the industry?

I will reach 31 years in April. I started working in the electric utility industry as a contractor for Sumter Builders in July 1984.

What is your favorite part of the job?

Meeting our members and helping restore their power is the most rewarding part of my job. There is a great sense of satisfaction in this work. I live in the community, and I enjoy being someone my neighbors and friends can depend on when they need help.

What do you do outside of FCEMC?

I have always enjoyed hunting and fishing. I also have a few great stories about catching monster catfish—some weighing in at 50 pounds! They taste even better when grilled.

What’s the best way to report an outage?

At Four County EMC, there are several easy ways to report an outage. You can text or call 1-888-368-7289, use our mobile app, or visit our website. Our sophisticated Outage Management System and dedicated response team work together to restore power as quickly as possible—often right from our command center.

What is your number one safety tip for members?

Stay away from downed power lines and report them immediately! The electrical lines that power your home can be extremely dangerous—never assume they are safe.
