One of the reasons we signed up for Off-Peak Advantage was to charge our EV as cheaply as possible, and the super-off-peak rate from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. is significantly lower than even the off-peak rate, which is perfect. Then we added a programmable thermostat to our HVAC system, and we set it to adjust the temperature by a few degrees during peak times. It’s easier than you’d think to get used to a warmer or cooler house than you’d been accustomed to.

In the summer, we save by cooking outside, which we all love anyway. Running the dishwasher before we go to bed has become a habit. And we do our laundry on the weekends, because shifting to save doesn’t apply to weekends or most holidays.

Being on Off-Peak Advantage makes us more aware of what in our home uses the most electricity, which makes us smarter energy consumers.We’re really happy with the savings, and it’s nice to know that we’re being environmentally conscious as well.
