What’s on your mind and what do you like to do after work?

My fiancée, Morgan, and I are getting married in September. Because of hurricane season we’ll honeymoon in St. Lucia in November and go to Bryson City after the wedding. We started dating in high school in Burlington, and both moved here after her family moved to Hampstead. We both went to Thrive Church in Alamance and still watch it on YouTube Live on Sundays.

I love to go duck hunting and enjoy the fellowship of the guys I go with, the adrenaline rush, and just being outside. Morgan likes to go hunting and fishing with me too. I love to fish the North Topsail area; I know the waters well from going to the beach there when I was growing up. It looks completely different from when I was 10 years old. It’s nice knowing that so many people want to live in the state where you grew up! I started fishing there with my grandpa when I was four years old.

Any other hobbies or interests?

I’m an occasional video gamer and built my own computer because I wanted something that would be faster and better than an X Box or PlayStation. I did lots of research before ordering the parts and putting it together, and I’ve upgraded it a few times. Playing with friends from back home or guys from here is a great way to decompress, instead of watching TV.

I go to the gym five days a week, and I also really love my job. I wanted something where I was working outside and doing something that matters. The most surprising benefit was the relationships you build with the people you work with. I expected the work to be hard and for it to be dangerous, and that you’d get tired, but when you’ve got a lot of people you can call your brothers – they’re not just your friends – that’s really great.
