Start the new year on the right foot and give your home a fresh boost. These quick and simple tips not only help you save money but also make 2026 your most energy-efficient year yet!
- If you have a heat pump, set your thermostat to your desired temperature and leave it. The less you adjust the thermostat, the better.
- Ensure your water heater is set to 120 degrees.
- Seal cracks around windows and exterior doors with caulk and weatherstripping.
- Keep the area around your HVAC unit free of any debris, branches, or pine needles to improve efficiency. Leave a clearance of at least 2 feet on all sides of the unit.
- Set your thermostat to heat mode only, not emergency/auxiliary heat.
- Unplug any electronic devices or turn off any power strips not in use. This habit helps reduce energy consumption.
