“I bought Calabash Florist in 1999, and a few years later fell in love with Joe, my silk flower vendor. We got married, I became pregnant with our daughter, Briana, and decided I needed to sell the business. After a while, I worked part time for local florists, refining my design skills, and was doing so for Tammy Hunter at the Briar Patch in 2012, when the time was right for her to sell, and for me to buy.

For a year I was a one woman show — floral designer, delivery driver, everything — which I could do because the shop was part of Calabash Marketplace and I could step out when I needed to. Then the county bought the building for the Brunswick Senior Resource Center, but everyone involved wanted me to stay. So, for more than a year I worked from a trailer during renovations, which was challenging, but so worth it when I moved into this fabulous space that I helped plan.

Since then, business has grown steadily, and I’ve been able to bring in some of the best floral designers in the area. All the arrangements are made in front of customers, in an open concept floor plan. We’re doing what we love, we enjoy being creative, and we all agree that sharing the results with our customers is the best feeling. It’s a great environment; we’re like family to each other. We have lots of repeat customers, who are so nice they often call to thank us, and we get a lot of business by word of mouth because of our attention to detail, timely deliveries, and friendly staff. 
But that doesn’t mean we’re expensive! Our prices are comparable to what you might pay in a grocery store, and you can come in and pick as many stems as your budget warrants or choose from our ready-made arrangements.

Along with putting our special touch on the everyday florals, my team has been making wedding day visions come to life all over Brunswick County, Myrtle Beach, and the surrounding areas. No event is too small or big for us. We take pride in being the go-to florist for many of the wedding planners we work with.
