My father’s favorite swimming spot was located in Stone Wall Springs, in the Sandy Cross area, between Pleasant Grove and Green Level. Getting a swim on an active farm was considered a small luxury. After Poppy enlisted in the U.S. Army and returned home, he said that the memories of the friends and the mud [of that swimming spot] was a comfort to him during his service during the Korean conflict.
