The co-op’s focus is always to provide safe, reliable energy to its members every day at the most reasonable rate possible. In the past the cooperative has shouldered the impact of power cost adjustments and higher material costs to hold its rates steady but unfortunately the cooperative cannot continue absorb the full amount of the increases.
To continue keeping cooperative finances strong, the cooperative will be implementing a rate adjustment that will become effective in January 2026 to ensure the co-op can meet expenses and remain fiscally sound. Even with the adjustment, Lumbee River EMC rates will remain among the lowest in the state.
- The Residential Energy Charge will be $.1200 per kWh.
- The Residential Facility Charge will be $36.
- The Energy Charge per kWh and Facility Charge will increase across all rate classes.
- The impact on your bill will vary by rate class.
For an average residential member using 1,000 kWh, this results in an increase of about $12.50 (an 8.71% rise).
