From April 1 through October 31, the on-peak period is 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., when electricity demand is at its highest across the system. If you have a smart thermostat, consider pre-cooling your home before the peak period begins so your air conditioner runs less during the late afternoon. Raising your thermostat a few degrees during peak hours can also help your system cycle less frequently. Cooking outdoors on the grill is another great option, as it keeps extra heat out of the kitchen and reduces the need for additional cooling indoors.
