Supporting Music on the Global Stage

Mojotone

Mojotone, served by Four County EMC, has been named Exporter of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration. The company was founded in Winston-Salem in 2000 and makes amplifiers, sound system cabinetry and components for electric guitars.

A $1 million loan through USDA’s Rural Economic Development Loan and Grant program facilitated by Four County EMC helped the company relocate to Pender Progress Industrial Park almost 10 years ago.

Mojotone’s journey from a small mail-order business in Burgaw to an internationally recognized manufacturer is one of the greatest economic development success stories in our region,” said Jimmy Smith, director of Economic & Community Development for Four County EMC. “Through strong collaboration between Four County EMC, Pender Progress Corporation, Pender County, the Town of Burgaw, and community partners, Mojotone was able to remain and grow in Pender County, proving that rural North Carolina can compete on a global stage.”

Past customers include Rush; Eric Clapton; ZZ Top; Garth Brooks; Keith Urban; and Burgaw native Audley Freed, a guitarist for Sheryl Crow, The Black Crowes and other bands.
