In return, subscribers will receive a monthly credit for the amount of energy their panel(s) generate; the credit amount will vary month-to-month based upon the actual energy generated.

No commitment is required, and there is no limit on the number of panels to which you can subscribe. This is a great opportunity for members who want to support solar energy but are unable to install solar panels on their homes. BEMC’s two Community Solar Gardens are located on Highway 17 in Bolivia and at the Peacock Substation in Chadbourn. There are a total of 738 panels, 170 of which are already spoken for by members, leaving 568 available for $3.50/month or $537 for a full subscription.

Our Community Solar Gardens are part of the A Brighter Future initiative to achieve, along with other North Carolina electric cooperatives, a 50% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030 from 2005 levels and net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
