To commemorate this significant milestone, Halifax EMC hosted a heartfelt retirement luncheon in Vivian’s honor on March 28. The event, attended by her beloved family, coworkers, and esteemed Halifax EMC retirees, served as a testament to the profound impact Vivian has had on the cooperative and the lives of those around her.

“Vivian’s retirement marks the culmination of 50 years of unwavering dedication and commitment to the cooperative and its community.

Vivian’s journey with Halifax EMC began half a century ago when she was hired as a cashier-receptionist in 1973. Throughout her tenure, Vivian witnessed many changes, including the first use of a mini-computer in the Enfield office during the late 1970s. She can proudly say she has worked for every Halifax EMC general manager including the current chief executive officer who is only the fifth manager to hold that position. She will go down in the cooperative’s history book as the employee with the longest years of service.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Vivian’s presence within the Halifax EMC family has been a source of inspiration and friendship. Known for her kindness, generosity and infectious spirit, she has forged lasting relationships and touched countless lives throughout her tenure.

As Vivian embarks on this new chapter of her life, Halifax EMC extends its deepest gratitude for her 50 years of service and unwavering dedication. While her presence will be dearly missed, her legacy will continue to resonate throughout the cooperative for years to come.
