85 Years Strong at the Union Power Annual Meeting

On Oct. 5, 2024, Union Power held its 85th Annual Membership Meeting at the beautiful Lee Park Church and had a remarkable turnout of members and vendors. With over 700 attendees celebrating the power of membership, they began their day with a complimentary breakfast buffet catered by Creative Food Concepts and custom coffee from Roaming Spirits.

Once members got their complimentary breakfast and coffee, they experienced the various vendor booths, such as James River Equipment & Greenworks, Iron Horse, Phantom AG Drones, Carolina Country, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Union County Ag Extension, Union Power Charitable Foundation, and ElecTel.

In addition to our energy fair, members also were engaged and learned about various electric cars, including the F-150 Lighting and Mach-E from Crossroads Ford of Indian Trail, EV9 from Union County Kia, Cybertruck from Matthews Tesla, Rivian, and a Model Y from the City of Charlotte. In the Kids Festival, the children enjoyed making new friends, getting their faces painted, bouncy houses, exploring an indoor playground, and even had a special visit from Paw Patrol’s Chase and Spiderman.

The members enjoyed live bluegrass music performed by the Williamson Branch. The talented family played their hearts out before the business meeting began. The meeting started with the presentation of colors by the Parkwood Air Force JROTC. Board members Winnie C. Honeycutt (Dist. IV), Thomas E. Porter, Jr. (Dist. VI), and David E. Smith (Dist. III) were re-elected for a three-year term on Union Power Cooperative’s board. General Manager and Executive Vice President Greg Andress addressed the members on stage and concluded the event with $2,500 door prizes.

As this annual event is an important event and time for the co-op and its members to come together, we want to thank everyone who attended Union Power’s 85th Annual Membership Meeting.
