“I grew up in Lincolnton, canoeing and whitewater rafting, playing in the river and looking for critters under rocks. My older brother claims he trained me in wilderness survival, but I was just having a good time. My husband, Rip, grew up in Sunset Beach. We met in college and then moved here, and I adore these magical waters.

I love to take people out to explore beyond the beach, get up close and personal with marine life and birds, and experience the ecosystem in a different way. It’s fun to point out and play with blue crabs and jellyfish, and everything in-between. I enjoy sharing what I know and care about and seeing people’s reactions. Kayaking is tide-dependent, so if you tell us what day you want to go, we’ll set a time and let you know where we’ll be adventuring.

We have a lot of repeat business, and it makes me so happy when people say that it’s the best part of their summer. A couple and their eight siblings and their kids, a group of 17, have been coming every year since we opened in 2011.

We have a blast and it’s been wonderful watching the kids grow up. We also know kayaking isn’t for everyone. Our fishing charters and boat tours are excellent ways to enjoy the water, and Rip is an expert captain and guide. We offer 4-, 6-, 8- and 12-hour offshore fishing excursions; the longer you go out the more diverse species you can see and catch.

Our 4- and 7-hour inshore fishing charters are popular as well. Our sandbar tours take you island-hopping to explore the back side of our barrier islands. Sunset cruises offer a relaxing way for up to six guests to go for a ride, listen to music, view waterway real estate from a different perspective, or admire the shrimp boats on the Shallotte River. We also offer dinner cruises to local restaurants; they make any evening extra special.
