Since its founding in 2012, the Brunswick Sheriff’s Charitable Foundation has been dedicated to helping meet the needs of people throughout Brunswick County. Run entirely by a 10-member volunteer board, the foundation works behind the scenes to provide meaningful support to individuals, families and local nonprofits.
The foundation’s signature event is the Diamonds and Denim Charity Ball, held annually on the first Friday in March. The popular gathering brings approximately 250 guests together for an evening of dinner, dancing and fun while raising money for Brunswick County non-profits.
The Diamonds and Denim Ball has become a much-anticipated community tradition, offering guests the opportunity to dress up or keep it casual — just as the name suggests — while coming together for a great cause. The evening begins with a social hour, followed by dinner and dancing. Tru Sol, back by popular demand, will return to provide the music.
Most importantly, the event gives the community an opportunity to directly support local nonprofits. More than $300,000 has been raised for Brunswick County charitable organizations, to help them continue their important work.
The Diamonds and Denim Charity Ball will be held March 5, 2027, at the Homer E. Wright Event Center (formerly St. James Community Building). Additional details and ticket information will be available at sheriffscharity.com beginning in January.
More Ways BSCF Makes a Difference
While Diamonds and Denim is the foundation’s largest annual fundraiser, it is only one part of the foundation’s broader community mission.
The foundation also oversees several programs designed to support the people of Brunswick County:
- The Anchor Initiative provides addiction care and treatment to approximately 150 citizens each year, helping individuals take important steps toward recovery and a healthier future.
- Tidings of Joy Program brings holiday wishes to children and families experiencing hardship.
- Scholarship Fund provides scholarships for children of Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office employees.
- Sunshine Fund assists Sheriff’s Office employees who are experiencing financial hardship or unexpected challenges.
“We want to help wherever there is a need,” says Board Chair Monique Stenquist.
That spirit is at the heart of the Brunswick Sheriff’s Charitable Foundation.
