Celebrating Linemen Appreciation Day

Every year, communities across the country take time to recognize the dedicated men and women who keep our lights on and our power flowing. Linemen Appreciation Day on April 13 is a chance to honor the hardworking lineworkers who brave the elements, work long hours, and respond at a moment’s notice to restore electricity when we need it most.

Lineworkers are often the first to respond during severe weather events, repairing downed lines after hurricanes, ice storms and high winds. They climb poles in sweltering heat and freezing temperatures, working around the clock to ensure homes, schools, hospitals and businesses stay powered. Their work is physically demanding and can be dangerous, requiring extensive training, skill and an unwavering commitment to safety.

Beyond storm response, linemen maintain and upgrade critical infrastructure year-round, helping strengthen the reliability of our electric system and supporting the growth of our communities. While much of their work happens behind the scenes, its impact is felt every day.

On Linemen Appreciation Day, we extend our sincere gratitude to our essential workers and their families for the sacrifices they make. The next time you flip a switch and the lights come on, remember the skilled professionals who make it possible and join us in thanking our linemen for powering our lives.
