Connecting Education and Energy

Kenan Fellow Kristin Owens-White

The Kenan Fellows Program at NC State University provides yearlong professional development and industry immersion experience that unite K-12 educators with local industries, community organizations, and higher education institutions.

The program strengthens the partnership between classrooms and careers by giving educators direct exposure to how businesses operate and solve real-world challenges. For Kristin, the fellowship will provide valuable and practical insights to bring back to her classroom.

During her time at Union Power, Kristin will explore how electric cooperatives serve their communities and deliver reliable power. She will work closely with every department to understand how the Cooperative operates and internally collaborates to provide the dependable service that members rely on.

Through this partnership, we look forward to sharing knowledge, building stronger community connections, and supporting efforts that inspire the next generation of leaders in energy and beyond.
