How did you and your fiancé, Brian, meet?

Me and a bunch of my friends had 4-wheel drive truck passes for Freeman Park at the north end of Carolina Beach. I saw him there, and then again at the Black’s Tire that he manages, when I was getting some new tires and wheels. We messaged each other and the rest is history.

We’ve been together for seven years, and have a small farm on 12 acres, with three horses, and three Australian shepherds. Our son, Waylon, just turned six, and he loves to rip around the property in his go-cart and try to drift it and play in the mud. He is all boy, but he can be quite the gentleman too by being a good helper.

We enjoy boating, riding over to Provision Company or Bald Head Island, and love to hang out on Masonboro Island. Brian and Waylon like to go fishing together, and we all like to go camping on the weekends and trail ride the horses.

And there are always projects. We built a new hay barn recently, and a new barn is probably next. My dad was a carpenter, and I picked up the aptitude to size up and build just about anything.

And you still manage to spend a lot of time with your parents and siblings?

You bet. I have a younger sister, an older brother and a twin sister. We’re fraternal twins and are complete opposites. We look totally different, and I’m left-handed, she’s right-handed, and we have different interests. But all four of us rely on each other in different ways, and we’ll watch each other’s kids. My brother loves spending time on the boat with us.

At least every other weekend we’ll all get together. With my parents, siblings and their kids, there are 15 of us. My house is often the place, because we’ve got the land so the kids can ride go carts, and we have a pool so the kids can swim. We take turns cooking and it’s always a good time.
