Energy Saver NC Program Now Available

The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s State Energy Office launched Energy Saver NC early last year, and it is now available in our service territory. The program is designed to help income-eligible homeowners and renters statewide offset the cost of energy-efficiency and electrification upgrades. Energy Saver NC offers two paths: HOMES and HEAR.

HOMES (Homeowners Managing Efficiency Savings) focuses on whole-home energy savings. This program rewards homeowners for reducing overall energy use by completing qualifying upgrades such as insulation, air sealing, or HVAC improvements. The greater the energy savings are achieved, the larger the potential rebate.

HEAR (Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates) helps households replace older, less efficient equipment with new high-efficiency electric options. Eligible upgrades include heat pump HVAC systems, heat pump water heaters, electric stoves, and electrical panel upgrades.

Eligibility for HOMES and HEAR rebates depends on factors such as household income, energy savings achieved, and the type of upgrade completed.
