BEMC uses a time-based rate structure that allows you to take control of your energy costs. The price of electricity varies by the time of day you use it, so you can save if you:
- Shift your electricity use away from On-Peak Hours, which are 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. in the winter, starting Oct. 16.
- During peak hours, limit your use of major appliances, adjust your thermostat a few degrees, and consider installing a timer for your water heater.
The optional Off-Peak Advantage rate can help you save even more. In exchange for a higher rate than standard On-Peak Hours, you pay much less for electricity at all other times.
- This rate includes Super Off-Peak, where the electricity you use between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. is discounted even further.
- There’s no On-Peak Hour pricing on weekends and holidays.
The free SmartHub app helps you make informed decisions that lead to energy savings and avoid unexpectedly high bills.
- Track your energy consumption on a monthly, daily, and hourly basis, and identify trends and spikes.
