Granting a Purpose

The Union Power Charitable Foundation (UPCF) continues to make a difference in our communities. Dedicated to supporting local nonprofits, UPCF helps strengthen the neighborhoods where we live and work. This month, we’re excited to highlight three organizations whose missions align with UPCF’s goals.

Through its grants, UPCF is not only supporting programs but also creating hope, growth, and opportunity throughout our communities. The Foundation’s commitment helps students reach their potential, empowers individuals with disabilities, and provides essential healthcare to those who need it most. By investing in local organizations that make a difference, UPCF strengthens the places we call home and shows that positive change is possible when we work together.

LIFESPAN Services

Illuminating the abilities of children and adults with disabilities is at the heart of LIFESPAN’s mission. Through educational and employment opportunities, LIFESPAN empowers people with disabilities to fully engage in their communities. With a commitment to improving the health and long-term well-being of those it serves, the grant from UPCF will benefit the organization’s Health Matters Program by purchasing new exercise equipment, Fitbit devices, and blood pressure cuffs to expand wellness opportunities.

Live Again Ministries

Stanly County’s Live Again Ministries empowers communities and inspires change one student at a time. With support from UPCF, Live Again Ministries aims to expand its LEAF Program, impacting middle school students with essential tools for self-improvement and personal empowerment. The LEAF Program currently operates at West Stanly Middle School and Albemarle Middle School, but thanks to funds from this grant, the organization hopes to expand to an additional middle school in the area.

Community Health Services of Union County

Community Health Services of Union County (CHSUC) is a free clinic that has provided high-quality care for 44 years to patients who are uninsured, unemployed, or have low income. “We believe everyone, regardless of socioeconomic status, deserves access to high-quality healthcare from a compassionate physician, and the ability to purchase medications,” said Cindy Cole, RN, CHSUC executive director. With the Foundation’s grant, the organization will now be able to transport patients with mobility issues during emergency situations and purchase 200 blood pressure monitors for their patients’ daily home use.
