Established in 2008, Halifax Helps, Inc. supports communities served by Halifax EMC by funding projects that fall within one of five focus areas: education, economic development, energy efficiency, environmental stewardship or emergency response. Grant funds are made possible through Operation Round-Up, a voluntary program that allows members to round up their electric bills to the nearest dollar.

Halifax Helps, established by the cooperative in 2008, provides financial assistance to areas served by Halifax Electric Membership Corporation. Funds come from members of Halifax EMC who are participating in the Operation Round Up program by having their electric utility bills rounded up to the next highest dollar.
