Do you live here?

The 2026 director election is for Districts 3, 5 and 7. If you live in one of these districts you can run for your district’s director seat.

If you are unsure of your district, simply contact the cooperative to ask for your director district.

Eligibility Criteria

Director qualifications are cited in the cooperative’s bylaws (Section 4.02) and can be found on our website.

Key Points

• Be a member in good standing.
• Primary residence located in the district for which you are seeking election.
• Not employed by Halifax EMC.
• Must complete Board Member Candidate Package.

How to Apply

Two ways to seek nomination:

1. Nominating committee (meets Feb. 11, 2026)

• Contact HEMC to request the members of the Committee on Nominations.

2. Petition (due by March 13, 2026):

• Obtain official petition form from HEMC.
• Collect at least 30 signatures from HEMC members (living in any district).
• Only one signature per membership.
