The Tideland Electric Care Trust awarded scholarships to eight local high school graduates totaling $8,000.
Addison Laine Harris
Washington High School
Addison is the daughter of Stacey Lee Harris of Pinetown and Cortney Smith of Washington. She will participate in a nursing degree partnership program between Beaufort County Community College and East Carolina University.
Todd McKinney Waters II
Pungo Christian Academy
McKinney is the son of Todd and Betsy Waters of Bath. He will attend Pitt Community College to prepare for a plumbing career.
Allison Ava-Haiyes Cox
Pungo Christian Academy
Ava-Haiyes is the daughter of Miles and Bambi Cox of Washington. At the University of North Carolina at Wilmington she will major in nursing while pursuing a minor in healthcare administration or psychology.
Jonah Alexander Rose
Pamlico County High School
Jonah is the son of Jason and Patricia Rose of Merritt. He will attend North Carolina State University. Jonah will major in horticultural science specializing in plant breeding and biotechnology.
Riley Kate Hudson
Northside High School
Riley is the daughter of Daniel and Heather Hudson of Pinetown. She has been accepted into the Honors College at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As a pre-med student, Riley will major in biology and exercise science with a minor in psychology.
Grant Tyler Melvin
Mattamuskeet Early College High School
Grant is the son of John and Bridget Melvin of Swan Quarter. He will major in accounting and finance at East Carolina University.
Mia Rojas Beltran
Pungo Christian Academy
Mia is the daughter of Julio Rojas Munoz and Diana Beltran Castro of Engelhard. She will attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a pre-dental student majoring in public health.
Lily Frances Mizell Keech
Pungo Christian Academy
Lily is the daughter of Melburn Keech of
Pinetown and the late Erin Mizell. She will major in Accounting at Campbell University with a minor in Business Administration.

Established in the spring of 2000, the Trust awards eight $1,000 college scholarships annually. Two of the eight scholarships are reserved for students planning to attend a community college. Community college scholarships will be paid as follows: $500 for the first academic year and $500 for the second academic year with proof of continued enrollment.
