The Jason Hole

Located in the Helton community, just 5 miles north of Lansing, it has been my joy to get to know The Jason Hole. Not only do all sorts of fishing people try their hand at this welcoming spot near my home, but folks of all ages jump and dive into its sparkling waters, including my husband, Larry at 70+ years of age! Larry often reminisces of his boyhood here, especially of his grandpa, Jason, whom he’d often accompany as he would lead his work horses for a life-giving draught, breaking the ice for them in winter.

Also a very special treat is to witness a baptism. We watch, like little birdies high up in the trees, while church-goers clad in their Sunday best, gather… Of course, my favorite is to see, hear and imagine our 12 combined grandchildren shouting and jumping into the cleansing depth, learning to trust buoyancy and swim!

And now, even when I don’t physically enter into the Jason Hole that often anymore, my soul is very refreshed as I breathe in its healing beauty deeply.
