The April “Where Is This” photo by Carolina Country’s Renee Gannon features the Christian Reinhardt farmhouse at the Ramsour’s Mill Battleground, located off Jeb Seagle Road outside of Lincolnton. In June 1780, Patriot militia defeated a larger Loyalist force, damping local support for the King. Many believe this battle led to the Patriots’ win over the British at Kings Mountain in October 1780. The remains of the original mill can be found in the woods nearby, while two schools occupy the former battleground. The 1700s cabin is not original to the site. It was donated by the Reinhardt family. A Living History Weekend will be held June 20-21 at the site to commemorate the battle; visit lincolncountyhistory.com for more information. The winning entry chosen at random from all correct submissions came from Linda Block of Ocean Isle Beach, a Brunswick Electric member.
