Board of Directors President Franklin Williams highlighted Four County’s strong commitment to delivering our members safe, reliable, and affordable energy. He discussed potential challenges that could impact our service area, such as maintaining our aging transmission system, enhancing security, and navigating evolving government regulations, particularly those enforced by the EPA. Williams assured our members that we are doing everything we can to keep costs manageable, even as we address these challenges. He encouraged members to stay engaged, noting that our focus on affordability is essential to maintaining stable power costs over time.

CEO Don Gatton shared the progress and vision for the future, highlighting the principle of “cooperation among cooperatives” as Four County crews played a role in the restoration efforts in Western North Carolina after Hurricane Helene. He thanked Star Communications and Four County retirees for their assistance during the annual meeting while our crews worked diligently to restore power for those affected. He assured all assembled that Four County is living out our mission to provide safe, affordable, reliable, and innovative energy solutions that enhance the quality of life for our members in everything we do.

This year, three seats were up for re-election during the Annual Meeting. As chairperson for the Business Meeting and Election of Directors, Cynthia Currin presided over the vote for Eugene Jordan (West Pender), Ronald Allen (West Bladen), and Steven Matthis (West Sampson). All three board members ran unopposed and will serve on the Board of Directors for Four County for another three-year term.
