“This winery should make every North Carolinian proud!”
Debra Watkins-Morton, Richlands, a member of Jones-Onslow EMC
This year marks an important milestone for Duplin Winery of Rose Hill. In addition to being selected as our readers’ favorite winery this year (an honor that it also received in 2019), it is celebrating its golden jubilee. Duplin Winery got its start in 1976 and for 50 years it has featured award-winning muscadine wines. In honor of its roots and one of the first wines it offered, the winery is offering a special 1976 Reserve, crafted from Scuppernong grapes (a variety of muscadine). Those grapes are descendants of the state’s more than 400-year-old historic mother vine on Roanoke Island. Through the years, the winery has grown and now offers a favored destination for wine tastings. Plan your visit around lunch or dinner (limited dates) and enjoy the Bistro Restaurant where you can enjoy Duplin’s wines with a meal.
