The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has officially launched Energy Saver North Carolina in our service territory. This program provides more than $208 million in federal funding to help members make their homes more energy efficient and affordable.
The program’s application processing team has now begun reviewing Phase 5 applications, which include households served by Four County EMC. That means eligible members can now apply to receive rebates for energy-saving home improvements such as installing heat pumps, insulation, and energy-efficient appliances.
Energy Saver NC combines two U.S. Department of Energy programs, HOMES (Homeowners Managing Energy Savings) and HEAR (Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates). Together, these programs help lower utility bills, create jobs, and improve air quality across the state. North Carolina is the first state in the nation to fully launch both programs at the same time, offering rebates of up to $16,000 per household for whole-home upgrades and up to $14,000 for qualifying energy-efficient appliances.
This initiative is designed to assist low- to moderate-income households, especially those in underserved communities, by improving home comfort and helping reduce monthly electric bills.
Members are encouraged to visit energysavernc.org or scan the QR code to check eligibility, upload proof of income, and submit their application. Applications are being reviewed now, so submitting yours today ensures your household is next in line for approval and scheduling once a certified contractor is available in your area.
