Pee Dee Electric

Board of Directors Election Information

Jordan K. Hildreth, CEO and Executive Vice President

Our cooperative has nine Directors, each elected by the membership for three-year terms. Director terms are staggered, so approximately one-third of the Board is elected annually. In accordance with Section 5.05 of the Cooperative’s bylaws, a nine-member nominating committee is appointed to nominate members and post the results at the cooperative’s headquarters, located at 9825 U.S. Highway 74 East, Lilesville, N.C.

This year, the committee will nominate members to stand for election to the cooperative’s Board of Directors from District No. 1, District No. 4, and an “At-Large” East member of the Board for election at the 2026 Annual Meeting. These districts are described as follows:

District #1

Composed of Burnsville, and portions of Lanesboro north of Highway 74 and portions of Wadesboro Township north of Highway 74 and west of Highway 52 North. Composed of portions of Ansonville west of Hwy 109 North and north of Dennis Road. Norwood Township in Stanly County served by Pee Dee Electric. The portion of New Salem Township in Union County served by Pee Dee Electric.

District #4

Portions of Richmond County east of U.S Highway 109 North to the Montgomery County line served by Pee Dee Electric. South of U.S. Highway 73 west to the intersection of Cartledge Creek Road. West of Cartledge Creek Road to the intersection of Bruton Road and Grassy Island Road, southwest of John Webb Road east of U.S. Highway 220 to the intersection of Lovin and Ledbetter Road. John O McDonald Road and Scott McDonald Road to west of Nicholson Road, north of Snead Avenue, the intersection of Highway 220 west of Ellerbe Road north of US Highway 74 Business.

At Large

In accordance with the cooperative’s bylaws, the “At-Large” East director position eligible for election this year must reside in the cooperative’s service territory east of the Pee Dee River.

Section 5.05 of the cooperative’s bylaws also describes how director candidates may be nominated by petition. The petition must be signed by 50 or more members and received in the Lilesville corporate office no later than July 23. This allows time to verify membership of the petition signees, that the nominees meet bylaw qualifications, that the person nominated is interested in serving, and to include the names of all Director Candidates on the Annual Meeting Official Notice. It is recommended that potential Director Candidates contact the cooperative for additional guidance on petition requirements. Keep in mind that the cooperative’s bylaws do not allow write-in candidates or floor nominees to be elected to the Board during the Annual Meeting of Members.

Section 5.02 of the bylaws outlines the qualifications to serve on Pee Dee Electric’s Board of Directors. Listed below are some of those qualifications:

I look forward to seeing each of you on October 1st at Pee Dee Electric’s Annual Meeting, which will be held at the Cole Auditorium on the campus of Richmond Community College.
