Ocracoke has authentic Blackbeard history as the brigand was slain in its soundside waters Nov. 22, 1718. The festival focuses on history, colonial life and family fun include and some of the events include “The Dating Game with Blackbeard” Friday night, a pirate parade Saturday morning, cannon fire from two period-era boats, a colonial encampment, a reenactment of Blackbeard’s last stand, the Shadow Players comedy stage fighting troop, the Sword Circle, tavern songs and sea chanteys by the Motley Tones, numerous vendors and more.
