Celebrating National Co-op Month - Carolina Country
October 2022

Fall is a busy time and October is particularly eventful, with our Annual Meeting, school, sports and other community activities in full swing. It’s also when all cooperatives celebrate National Co-op Month and celebrate you—our members!

The word “cooperative,” close to “cooperation,” involves people working together toward a common goal—mutually benefitting one another and the larger community, and that’s the true meaning of the cooperative spirit.

At Pee Dee Electric, our mission is to provide reliable electricity and other related services while focusing on value, quality member service, and enhancing life in the communities we serve. And while our primary business purpose is to serve as your electricity provider, our larger mission is to work towards building a brighter future to make our corner of the world a better place.

As a cooperative, one of the ways we do that is through our “Concern for Community.” Similar to how our wires run through our service territory, our concern for community flows through all of our decisions—because being a co-op means being committed to you.

Pee Dee Electric works to help our community thrive through initiatives led by our employees and local Board of Directors comprised of neighbors who live here in our community. Because we’re local, we understand our community’s unique needs and strive to help meet them.

One way Pee Dee Electric helps our community thrive is by continuously investing in education. From providing electrical safety demonstrations to awarding grants to local classroom teachers to fund innovative, hands-on learning experiences that will enrich the lives of students, Pee Dee Electric believes in giving back to the community. We also proudly support local youth through our Youth Tour, Touchstone Energy Sports Camps, and scholarships.

With your help and the help of other members simply rounding up your monthly electric bill to the nearest dollar amount, we are also able to offer Care to Share grants to support various non-profit organizations making a difference throughout the communities we serve. We partner directly with local community organizations to provide programs such as the Rural Economic Development Loan and Grant (REDLG) program and the CoBank Sharing Success Grant Program. Anson County’s Rotary Planetarium and Science Center recently received the CoBank Sharing Success Grant for technology upgrades.

As a local, not-for-profit, member-owned, trusted energy provider, we know saving energy and money is important to you. That’s why we have numerous programs to help, like our Energy Efficiency Loan Program, Budget Billing, and even energy efficiency rebates for eligible water heaters, heat pumps and electric vehicles. We encourage you to manage energy use at home, and if you haven’t already, take a moment and download our free mobile app, PeeDeePower. Through the app, you can conveniently pay your bill, report an outage, and manage your energy use. Call us if you have questions about your energy use.

We are your local co-op, and we’re here ready to help you with the highest level of friendly, reliable service you expect and deserve.

Your cooperative has got you
