Care to Share at Prancing Horse Center for Therapeutic Horsemanship - Carolina Country
July 2023

Thanks to members rounding up their electric bills each month, non-profit organizations like Prancing Horse in Hoffman can continue enhancing the lives of adults and children in our community.

Prancing Horse is a premier accredited therapeutic riding center that provides a safe environment for therapeutic horsemanship for individuals with diverse cognitive, emotional and physical needs in the Sandhills area. The staff and 90-plus volunteers customize individual educational programs that integrate the benefits of horsemanship with the help of 13 therapy horses.

Through Pee Dee Electric’s Care to Share Grant Program, Prancing Horse has been able to help correct drainage issues in their fields and run-in sheds. “The improvements made to our farm were important in providing a safe, healthy environment for our equine programs,” stated Patricia Watts, executive director of Prancing Horse Center for Therapeutic Horsemanship.

Care to Share grants are funded through the generosity of our members. Since the program started in 2005, 132 non-profit organizations have received grants from the Care to Share program, with over $1.8 million generated by member contributions.

“These funds go a long way in supporting the communities in which we live, work, and play, and we are grateful to our members that continue to support the Care to Share Program,” stated Donnie Spivey, Pee Dee Electric’s CEO and executive vice president.
