Union Power Sponsors Student at Cooperative Leadership Camp - Carolina Country

Marques Walker, a rising sophomore at Cannon School in Concord, recently attended a week-long summer leadership camp along with 40 of his peers from cooperatives across North Carolina.

Cooperative Leadership Camp Marques WalkerThe Cooperative Leadership Camp, hosted by the Cooperative Council of North Carolina (CCNC), is an educational program for rising high school sophomores through seniors. The five-day resident camping program takes place in White Lake, NC, and features interactive workshops and presentations, team-building activities, and recreation. Students from across the state come together and learn about the cooperative business model and how cooperatives are functioning in our state.

Marques Walker is an involved student and community member. He volunteers at Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, participates in Relay for Life, and plays on the basketball team and track and field.  After he graduates, Marques plans to attend college to study business, entrepreneurship, and accounting so he can one day have his own business.
