Mason Dixon is a fun place to walk into. You’re greeted with good vibes, and as you poke around the boutique, you’ll find stylish clothes that you’re not likely to find anywhere else in the area. The motif is inspirational coupled with pleasant, yet snarky sentiments, and you’ll find gifts at all price points. The boutique has the perfect something for everyone, and you can feel especially good about your purchases because 5% of what you spend will be allocated to a charity of your choice.

Founder Wendy Brown tells us more: I always try to have a positive out-look, but I was working at an unfulfilling, challenging job for seven years before Mason Dixon opened in April 2017. I was committed to the idea that this store was going to be nothing but love for the people who work with me, and love for those that came through the door. It had to be a positive and beautiful experience and had to be welcoming and accessible to all. Part of that has been giving 5% to the charity of the customer’s choice since the very first sale. To make it easier, we have a banner with suggestions, and they change each year, except for the Senior Center because no one else does what they do. We alternate the Sheriff’s Foundation and Animal Shelter, and always feature a religious organization. As of September 2022, we’ve donated nearly $175,000 to local organizations on behalf of our customers.

It wasn’t always easy, there were some lean years, but I felt very strongly that God had a purpose for our store. We believe fervently in shopping local, and we stay open until 8 p.m. so people have the chance to do so. We were intentional about creating a space where everyone feels appreciated and can feel good. If someone asks if we have condolence cards, I say no, but we do have some things that might make your friend smile or laugh. We proudly carry clothing sizes small to 3XL and are committed to making sure every woman can find something perfect. I do all my buying in Dallas because what’s shown there isn’t shown in New York or Atlanta and the look is different – Boho meets Beach.

Most of our customers are local, and they have so many options on how and where to shop. They make the decision to go out of their way to shop locally and support local charities.

We pray everyone who leaves our store knows how important they are to us. I believe that people want to do good, and if you give them the opportunity, they will do good. If we’ve had any success, it's because of our amazing community and God's Grace. We had an idea, and the community put the idea into action. What can I say other than I love my job, and the customers who have become friends.
