Brandon Frink and daughter, Ma’Kenzy

Brandon Frink began work at BEMC as an Apprentice Lineman 2 in 2013 and now serves as Construction Coordinator for the Supply District, where he oversees the contract crews working on underground, primary and temporary services. Fun Fact: “I wasn’t quite 16 when the first Fast & Furious came out. I bought a red Honda Civic that had a body kit, neon lights and chrome rims, and looked just like the car in the movie. I kept it in my cousin’s garage, and almost nobody knew about it.”

What do you do to unwind after work?

Well, I do landscaping after work and on some weekends for family and some clients. I started the business in 2015, and it’s grown steadily through referrals, but I’ve been doing it since I was younger. I started in the fifth grade and fell in love with it. My first job was with my family in North Myrtle Beach at Sunset Harbor, and it was my first time on a tractor. They let me landscape and grade the yard out, and that was it, I was hooked. I ran the irrigation lines, planted the bushes and laid the sod on that job too. I just loved it!

Anything else you enjoy doing with your remaining free time?

If it’s not Brunswick Electric or landscaping, then it’s my daughter and I. She’s 14 and pretty much thinks she runs the household! I like to spend as much time as possible with her, I think it’s important. We enjoy going on trips together, to Atlanta, and of course, Disney World. She’s a big Harry Potter fan, but hasn’t converted me yet. And we visit family in Virginia Beach, High Point, Greensboro and Orange Park, Florida. Weekend getaways are my favorite thing. I like to wake up and say “Pack a bag, we’re going!” She really likes White Point Garden in Charleston, and we’ll go there to sit, relax and talk. She can talk about anything, there’s no judgement. I find it’s best just to listen sometimes. Building trust, that’s the main thing. That way when they have a problem, they won’t be afraid to come to you. And when they start talking don’t interrupt them, just let them get it all out. I learned that the hard way! She’s a great girl. She's smart, loves to paint and draw, and my sister is helping her learn how to crochet.
