With matching contributions from BEMC, the generosity of our members has passed the $1 million mark for the Warm Homes, Warm Hearts program.

Founded in 2008, the electric cooperative’s annual campaign recently kicked off with BEMC employees contributing to the successful heating assistance program. Dollar for dollar, donations are matched up to $50,000 annually to effectively double all contributions made, big or small. One hundred percent of these funds go to help those in need right here in the community and are distributed through our partnering agencies, Brunswick Family Assistance and the Columbus County Department of Aging.

“It’s neighbors helping neighbors,” said Heather Holbrook, spokesperson for the co-op. “Thanks to our members, this vital community program makes a real difference in folks’ daily lives, especially seniors and families in need through the cold winter months.”
