Slow Cooker Macaroni & Cheese

Set it and forget it — the convenience factor is huge with this one. Coupled with the resulting cheesy goodness and the slightly crusty, barely browned top — your family will be craving a repeat!

Ingredients

  • 1 8-ounce box of macaroni, cooked and drained

  • 1 12-ounce can evaporated milk

  • 1½ cups milk

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup shredded, medium cheddar cheese

  • 2 cups shredded, sharp cheddar cheese

  • ¼ cup melted butter

  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • Black pepper to taste

  • Thinly-sliced cheddar cheese

Directions

  1. Coat slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray.

  2. Combine all ingredients, stirring well. Pour into crockpot.

  3. Place thin slices of cheese on top. Set cooker to low and cook 3½ hours without stirring.

  • What size slow cooker is this recipe for? Does it really get crusty and brown?

    • Hi Anita! We made it in an 8-quart slow cooker, but I think you could get away with using a 6-quart one as well. It mainly got a bit brown around the edges (which was the tastiest part to us!) but if you kept an eye out toward the end of the cook time, you could certainly dig into it before that stage if you were so inclined. Hope it works out for you!
